TULIPA GESNERIANA, CAERULEUM. Recently I have been working on a documentary project where I have explored plants as a phenomenon in the human environment and everyday life. Tulipa gesneriana is based on my previous still life project "Red Fauna" where I started from plants that are common elements in our Scandinavian gardens. I have always found it interesting to explore the human relationship to plants that we in the Western world choose to import from different parts of the world to place in our homes and in public environments. Many times we have more knowledge of our imported plants that are grown in flower industries than plants from our own Swedish nature.
In the documentation of the plants, I want to preserve its powerful shapes and appearance to be at the center as an example of the world that fits on my windowsill. The title originates from Latin and describes the plant's relationship in a world language that describes which species it belongs to, although it is still unclear even today where the species has its origin.
PETER STRIDSBERG born 1994 in Gothenburg. Lives and work sin Lund, Sweden. He received his master’s degree at the Art Academy at Umeå university in 2019.
Stridsberg strives to clarify and expand the borderland between human and nature in different scenes and projects through his artistic works.
