Forest Lights & Seascapes

Mats Reslow, from Bara, exhibits a mix of minimalist photos with simple compositions from cities and the coast around Skåne and more chaotic photos from the forests around Malmö and Lund.

After painting all his life, Mats Reslow started in earnest with photography six years ago. In the beginning, he worked almost exclusively in black and white with minimalist landscape photos and city photos. In the beginning of the pandemic, when most trips and physical meetings were canceled, he felt a strong need to go out into the forests of Skåne to take photographs. Then he sought refuge in the woods near his home in Bara; Bökeberg, Bokskogen and Prästaskogen.

Like most others, I sat in digital meetings a lot during the pandemic and felt that I wanted to go out into the woods and be in nature, as a contrast. The challenge was to try to find some composition in the chaotic forest, sometimes I just manage to capture the chaos itself, which can also be interesting and beautiful, says Mats Reslow.
